To celebrate the holidays, Reading Terminal Market – which descended from Philadelphia’s first market – set up Gingerbread Lane this year, with over 600 gingerbread houses on it. Photo by Jim Murphy, author of Real Philly History, Real Fast.

From Nov. 22, 2023 through Jan 2, 2024, Reading Terminal Market’s Gingerbread Lane will be set up near the Arch Court Seating Area.

Created by former chef Jon Lovitz of Queens, New York, it’s one of four gingerbread villages he developed this year. Lovitz has also set the Guinness World Record for the largest gingerbread village four times.

Reading Terminal Market’s sign near the Gingerbread Lane display, says, it “features over 600 Gingerbread Houses, iconic Philadelphia landmarks, gingerbread trains & trolley cars, snowmen and more.”
